Known for his glamorous couture wedding gowns, cocktail dresses and off the rack womens-wear of a relaxed elegance, Adam Dixon celebrated the 1st Birthday of his flagship Queen Street store. With an impressive background spanning 20 years dressing women in beautiful gowns, Adam says, “My Woollahra store is exactly what I have always wanted, I am so proud to celebrate this milestone”.
On Wednesday, December 3, the rain did not stop 80 of Adam’s closest clients, media and leading ladies who love Adam’s gown designs, attended the celebration. Guests enjoyed French Champagne and delicious canapés within his beautiful store located in the center of Sydney’s high street, shopping mecca – 90 Queen Street, Woollahra.
When you first come to the Adam Dixon store door your jaw will drop at his eclectic eye for detail, featuring not only his gowns but also gifts including silverware, vintage jewellery and seasonal Christmas decorations. Sourced from all over the world you will find silver Champagne ice bucket’s, crystal candelabra’s, French candles and much more to complete the overall experience of the brand, Adam has so lovingly created. Soon to be launching as well is his online bridal registry featuring gifts and home-wears a world apart from the ordinary essential plates and toasters.
About Adam Dixon:
After studying a diploma in arts and fashion, learning his craft of designing, pattern making and cutting, Adam started his business in 1991 selling women’s wear. His first store was in 1992 in the Brisbane arcade and in 1998 he moved to Sydney to work as the manager of couture women’s imports for David Jones. He then opened his first Sydney store on William Street, Paddington in 2000 featuring cocktail dresses and formal gowns. In 2005, he started making couture-wedding gowns featuring imported fabrics and laces. His off the rack dresses, ideal for a special occasion, bridesmaids or cocktail parties range from $400 to $1000. Couture wedding gowns from $3000 to $7000.
When asked why he has always wanted his own label, Adam says, “I have too much of my own aesthetic ideas to work for anyone else and have always known I should work for myself”.
Adam is inspired by the old masters; Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior & Balenciaga. With his sense of humor and evil wit, Adam has a down to earth, loveable personality. A lover of old architecture, glamorous history and Hollywood screen sirens, always by his side his dog, Kevin.
